CO State Veterans Community Living Center at Rifle
The Colorado State Veterans Community Living Center at Rifle is
located on Colorado's western slope in the scenic Colorado River
valley. Rifle offers a mild climate, with plenty of clean mountain
air and beautiful blue skies. Amidst this setting, the State
Veterans Community Living Center at Rifle provides 89 beds of
skilled nursing care, including a 18-bed Special Care Unit for
residents with Alzheimer's Disease or related conditions. Serving
veterans, their spouse and eligible "Gold Star" parents, we are
committed to caring for the whole person by addressing the personal
and social needs of each resident, as well as their physical and
medical requirements. All staff members of Rifle are committed to

Colorado State Veterans Community Living Center at Rifle, our staff

Description of Job
This is a full time position working various shifts, weekends and
holidays.
Please note: These working arrangements are subject to change.
This position exists to provide a safe, clean, and sanitary
facility which is well maintained and comfortable for the residents
which reside here. This work unit also exists to assist in
compliance of all required Federal, State, and local rules and
regulations pertaining to the operation of a health care
facility.
This position will provide the hands-on service of cleaning,
disinfecting and will assist in the overall process of controlling
odors which are prevalent in a health care facility. This position
also restocks cleaning supplies as needed and performs all floor
maintenance as required while honoring and respecting those living
and working in our home through companionship, empowerment and
individualized care while preforming custodial/ housekeeping
assignments that meets the unit's purpose and needs.
Job Duties:
Perform daily cleaning, e.g. sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash
removal, sanitizing, etc. per Facility needs and assignments per
Universal Precautions and all established Facility Safety
Standards.
Cleans and dusts room light fixtures, bathroom light fixtures and
hallway lighting.
Cleans and disinfects all furniture, handrails and door
hardware.
Cleans, dusts door frames, stairwells, fire extinguisher
cabinets.
Cleans windows inside and out.
Descales pipes and fixtures, buffs floors.
Performs laundry as assigned: handle, sort, load, unload, fold,
assign, hang, iron, stock, label and distribute Resident's laundry
and Facility Linen, etc.
Utilize approved disinfectants, cleaner, detergents, bleaching
agents, soft/sour agents, spotters and associated chemicals.
Know and understand the programming of all laundry equipment.
Keep work related records.
Follow all established facility safety standards.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment &

Minimum Qualifications:
Six (6) months of custodial experience (part-time experience will
be prorated) in an occupational field related to the work assigned
to the position. Work Experience must be clearly documented in the
work section of your application.
Preferred Qualifications:
Understand mixture and safe care of chemicals to include mixing,
using and disposing of cleaning chemicals including understanding
of the environmental issues involved in handling, different
cleaning products
Following proper sanitation procedures for restrooms including
disinfecting urinals, toilet bowls, washing restroom partitions,
walls, floors, showers and bathtubs
Managing large scale cleaning projects in a cooperative team
environment
Paying attention to detail, strong time management skills and
ability to handle multiple tasks
Working in a team environment to complete daily workloads and
provide support when necessary outside of assigned areas
Excellent customer service skills to include communicating with and
responding to all level of employees
You must provide a detailed description of your work experience and
qualifications that describe how you meet the required
qualifications.

Conditions of Employment:
Applicant must submit to and successfully complete a full
background check and drug screening (Fingerprinting and CAPS).
Must submit to a TB Test.
Applicant must be able to work shifts such as day, evening, and
night shifts to include holiday and weekends, as needed.
This position is designated Essential Services and must report to
without delay or interruption to provide essential or emergency
services to ensure health, safety, and welfare.
Must use chemicals associated with laundry processed and general
housekeeping process
Ability to understand and apply information available on SDS
(Safety Data Sheets). Must be able to be on feet for 8 hour shift
and work with a variety of chemicals such as bleach, cleaning
solutions, etc.
Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or
resigned in lieu of termination must disclose the information on
the application and provide an explanation why the prior
termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from
the current position. Absent extraordinary circumstances, prior
disciplinary termination or resignation in lieu of termination will
disqualify the applicant from future State employment with
CDHS.
On or after October 31, 2021, each facility shall ensure all newly
hired employees or support staff members are fully vaccinated at
the time of hire or receive their first dose of a two-dose
protocol, or a single-dose vaccination, prior to providing any
care, treatment, or other services for the facility and/or its
clients.
Employees will be required to attest to and verify whether or not
they are fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Employees who have not been
fully vaccinated may be required to submit to serial testing in the
future. Upon hire, new employees will have three (3) business days
to provide attestation to their status with proof of vaccination.
Vaccinated employees must provide proof of first dose prior to
providing care.
Note: Fully Vaccinated means two (2) weeks after a second dose in a
two-dose series of the COVID-19 vaccine, such as the Pfizer,
Moderna or Novavax vaccine, or two (2) weeks after the single-dose
vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson's Janssen vaccine.
Religious and medical exemptions and reasonable accommodation shall
be addressed as required by law pursuant to the Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission's vaccination guidance. If you would like to

Supplemental Information
*Sign-On Bonus
Upon approval, a sign-on incentive based on position, ranging from
$2,000 to $7,000 (prorated if a part-time position), will be given
in three payments: within two pay cycles of when the new employee
starts at CDHS, 180-day anniversary and 270-day anniversary with
CDHS. These incentives will be available to the first 1,000 new
employees in select high-need positions.
