Position Summary: This position will be key to our students' ability to successfully engage in learning while at school. The role of the behavioral support paraprofessional is to support students in developing positive skills and strategies for engaging in the learning environment of the classroom. The behavioral support paraprofessional will work with individual students who are struggling in class and will provide "real time" supports that may occur in the classroom or outside the classroom with the intention of returning the student to class as quickly as possible. The position will also assist with the implementation of student behavior support plans under the supervision of the school counselor. The behavioral support paraprofessional is a member of the school behavior support team, which regularly collaborates to monitor the school's behavior data, identify specific students and classrooms in need of additional support, creation of student behavioral support plans and provision of specific supports to individual students to enable them to be successful in the learning environment. Essential Duties: Participate in the development and implementation of student behavior support plans as part of the school's behavior support team. Provide real time pull-out behavior support to students who are struggling to engage in the learning environment to help them practice social-emotional skills and coping mechanisms. Provide one-on-one support to high needs students within a classroom setting as requested. Monitor students for safety and physically intervene if necessary based on school policy. Support the counselor with the implementation of social-emotional curriculum as requested. Assist with the documentation of student behavior needs and incidents to help inform referrals to the School-Wide Assistance Team (SWAT). Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
