JOB SUMMARY

The Director position, is a mid level management position responsible for the overall operations of the

Information Services department, including; budgeting, staffing, strategic planning, vendor recommendations,

system(s) implementations, technology champion, and solutions evaluations and

recommendations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education

A minimum of a high school graduate with four years of college with a curriculum in business

management and computer science or similar professional training (i.e., military). The hiring authority may

substitute training and experience for the college requirements.

Minimum Work Experience

A minimum of 3 consecutive years responsible for maintaining and operating computer equipment and

medium sized systems, a working knowledge of desktop software solutions including word processing,

spreadsheets, and data analysis tools, strong interpersonal skills, prior experience in system's implementation

contract management and negotiation skills and prior program management experience in the implementation

of computer systems. A minimum of two years prior experience with Microsoft NT server based technologies,

Ethernet and Fast Ethernet network topologies, and TCP/IP configurations and management.

Required Skills

A broad background germane to computerized Information Systems and PC based computers. Further, this

candidate must have fundamental knowledge on system design, documentation

procedures, data analysis tools and acumen for Information processing activities.

FUNCTIONAL DEMANDS

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

In an 8-hour work day, this position must be able to sit for 4 hours intermittently, stand for 2 hours

intermittently, and walk for 2 hours intermittently. The position requires occasional: squatting, ending,

kneeling, reaching, twisting, crawling, ladder climbing, stair climbing, walking on rough, exposure to changes of

temperature or humidity, exposure to dust, fumes or gases, being near moving machinery, and working from

heights. Employees in this position must be able to lift 20-100 pounds 1-33% of the workday and lift up to 20

pounds 34-66% of the workday. Employees in this position must be able to carry up to 74 pounds occasionally.

This position requires that the employee push and/or pull up to 74 pounds occasionally. Both hands are

needed for precision.

Equipment used: Personal computers

Visual, Hearing and Dexterity Demands: Requires visual attention, finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination

for performing keyboard skills.

Working Conditions: Works in a clean, well-lighted, temperature controlled, ventilated area. May have

exposure to communicable disease.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provide a focused resource to the Hospital that is responsible for the collection and integrity of patient and

financial data.

To strive to ensure that data and information is available in a comprehensible, easy to retrieve format.

To champion methods and promote the use of tools in aiding others in performing data analysis and data

sharing.

To promote the wellness of information and the retrieval and analysis thereof by positioning the hospital as

a technology leader.

Develop short and long range departmental goals and objectives in accordance with the CQI principles

adopted by the hospital.

Prepares, recommends, and manages approved departmental budgets and hospital wide capital

expense items related to information technology.

Analyzes individual departmental needs in relation to information systems retrieval data control of

centralized databases, and expand the use of computing and data processing equipment in order to support

those departments.

Performs detailed system's review and analysis prior to acquisition, contract review and negotiations.

Is the Program manager for the installation of all new network or computer based technologies.

Manages the implementation of regulatory compliance.
