Western Colorado University invites applications for the full-time position of Resident Director. The Resident Director is a 12 month, live-on position that is responsible for developing and managing a residence hall community of approximately 100 to 350 residents. The Resident Director reports to the Assistant Director of Residence Life. The Resident Director will directly supervise undergraduate and/or graduate student staff leaders.

Duties: The Resident Director will be responsible for the following: creating, implementing, and revising the residential curricular model; developing individual relationships with students and serving as an advisor/mentor for academic and personal concerns; selecting, training, and supervising student staff, including facilitating regular meetings and evaluating student staff; managing all operational aspects of assigned residence hall/complex; serving as a conduct administrator, utilizing StarRez to manage student behavior and communicate with university officials; selecting, training, and advising the Community Council within their assigned residence hall/complex with assistance from the Senior Resident Assistant; supporting and/or advising the Residence Hall Association; serving in an on-call duty rotation and responding to campus-wide incidents; supporting summer conferences; and participating in departmental and divisional meetings, programs, & committees. The Resident Director also performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Required Qualifications:

Master's degree required. 1 year of professional or graduate assistantship experience in student development and/or student management required. Must demonstrate experience with advising, developing, mentoring, & motivating a diverse student staff/team; problem solving and critical thinking skills; excellent organizational skills; the ability to work efficiently both independently & within a team; must be able to work some evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in student affairs, higher education or similar. 2 years of professional or graduate assistantship experience in student development/management, counseling, higher education administration or related. Experience as a Resident Assistant, Graduate Assistant, Resident Director, or similar live-in position. Demonstrated experience with supervision of diverse student staff/teams; creating, implementing, and assessing a residential curricular model; supporting student mental health, crisis response, and/or experience on-call; student conduct administration; advising or involvement with Community Council and/or Residence Hall Association; building collaborative partnerships; understanding of student development theory; strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Additional Application Information: Remuneration & Benefits: Salaried $35,568 a year. The position is FLSA exempt. Fully furnished apartment within assigned residence hall/complex, partial meal plan, and flex dollars. Plus full benefits package including comprehensive shared contribution medical, dental, and vision insurance and retirement plans, paid time off, and access to other university benefits such as extended studies courses and undergraduate tuition remission for spouse/dependents after 1 year.
