Job Description:
Reliable and punctual attendance is essential; expected to be at
job as scheduled each scheduled day. 2. Communicate necessary
information to others as appropriate. 3. Direct and supervise
Nursing Services to meet the expectations of the community we
serve, and to maintain high quality of care for patients and
families, which will meet regulatory standards for licensure of
facility with emphasis on maintaining a positive work environment
where patients can heal and staff can thrive. 4. Coordinate
staffing schedules to meet patient needs, acuity levels and safety.
5. Deliver and assess high quality care provided by nursing staff
to all patients. 6. Review current policies and procedures in
collaboration with House Supervisors seeking those that need
revision and correction while creating new policies and procedures
with the intent to provide high quality patient care and teamwork.
Communicate affectively to nursing staff in regards to these
changes with the expectation that the House Supervisors lead by
example by upholding and demonstrating these changes through their
nursing practice and decision making as stated in their job
description. Knowing that the outcome of such delegation ultimately
falls under the responsibility of the director. 7. Advise the AVP
of Nursing/Chief Nursing Officer of all occurrences/incidents that
involve the facility in a timely manner. 8. Act as liaison for
inter-departmental coordination to meet the patient's total care
needs and coordinate interdisciplinary team activities. 9. Provide
an environment designed to stimulate, develop and promote
individual growth and wellbeing within Family Health West's
Continuum of Care. 10. A role model for all hospital staff? 11.
Assess and evaluate Emergency Department nursing personnel in
coordination with the AVP of Nursing. 12. Write and revise policies
and procedures specific to the Emergency Department and trauma in
collaboration with the AVP/CNO. 13. Complete regulatory reports and
care audits for Emergency Department. Coordinate and monitors
documentation to ensure it is complete and accurate and reflects
care provided. 14. Involve Emergency Medical Director in problem
solving issues as needed. Work collaboratively with Medical
Director to ensure that generally accepted standards of practice
are consistently followed. 15. Attend meetings as directed by the
Chief Nursing Officer and/or AVP. 16. Coordinate Emergency
Department personnel education as necessary, utilizing available
staff and community resources. 17. Coordinate maintenance of
employee personnel records of orientation, evaluations and
competencies. 18. Communicate with Consulting Pharmacist regarding
policy changes, compliance, destruction of drugs, etc. 19.
Responsible for survey results and correction of deficiencies in
ER, Trauma, and Inpatient unit. 20. Attends meeting as directed by
the AVP/CNO 21. Actively participates in regional and state Trauma
systems. Serves as a liaison for the community trauma program in
Mesa County and provides outreach/education/awareness to the
community for injury prevention that is driven by data. 22.
Maintains a complete and accurate registrar through the trauma
registry by collecting data and submitting to the state in a timely
manner. Maintains a trauma dashboard that is shared with staff and
administration. 23. Ensures that all components to maintain trauma
designation status are accurate and complete for state trauma
survey. 24. Responsible for chart audits and review on all trauma
admissions, trauma deaths, trauma transfers. 25. Organizes Trauma
Committee. Coordinates M&M, Peer Review following state rules
and regulations. Works closely with the Trauma Medical Director
that oversees the trauma program. Assists with loop closure and
maintains documentation logs. 26. Tracks physician and ED staff
required education/courses and CMEs. 27. Active RN in the ED.
Provides direct patient care as appropriate. 28. Functions as a
clinical resource to ED personnel. 29. Provides educational
services or sets up trainings directly related to trauma. GENERAL
DUTIES: 1. Proficient with Cerner 2. Strive to promote and maintain
positive public relationships with community and other health
professionals. 3. Work collaboratively with all departments to
promote and maintain delivery of optimal care to FHW patients on an
ongoing basis.-- 4. Maintains patient/resident/employee privacy and
confidentiality at all times. 5. Acts as a role model for all
hospital staff and promotes the mission and vision of CCHMC at all
times.
